Further expansion of the areas of duties for physical therapists will be necessary to accommodate this rapid rise in the number of physical therapists. To date, three-quarters of the physical therapists work in medical institutions and only a few work in regional care centers. This paper presents the activities of Tajima-choju Village in Hyogo prefecture, where physical therapists are extensively involved in community care, and also describes the role of physical therapists in community care.},
