The first questionnaire was given to nursing station managers to determine the practice of psychiatric visiting nurses in general nursing stations. The questions asked included the following: how is psychiatric visiting nursing managed; if not used, why is psychiatric visiting nursing not used; and are there any plans for including psychiatric visiting nursing in the future. The second questionnaire was given to the psychiatric visiting nurses who choose one client who had received nursing care less than three months and had given an informed consent. This questionnaire consisted of four categories including informed consent (16 items), information gathering (19 items), developing rapport (41 items) and content of care (19 items). The respondents were asked to rate these items on a 4-point scale. The second questionnaire was mailed to 46 hospitals, and both questionnaires were sent to 370 general nursing stations. There were 96 respondents for the first questionnaire and 117 for the second.\r\nThe data were statistically analyzed by calculating the means and standard deviations, and a t-test was done to compare the nursing groups. The SPSS Ver.11 was used for the statistical calculations.\r\n As a result, we found that 83 (86.5%) general nursing stations were not using psychiatric visiting nursing.
