The basic nursing study course at Konan Women’s University sets as its core the nursing views of Florence Nightingale to nurture nursing attendants with practical nursing abilities, while seeking to teach nursing skills that are based on the principles of safety, comfort and autonomy, taking into consideration the cultural background of each patient. Here, we report on a “Checklist for Experiencing Basic Nursing skills Experience” that we’ve created for basic nursing skills that our students must acquire by the end of their basic nursing study training held during the latter half of their sophomore year.
