In an interview, the director himself once said that he considered these films a trilogy, because they are all about ordinary people. But he never called them "The Trilogy of Happiness", while here in Japan, people often group them under this title. By using this title, a Japanese audience will be misled by the word "happiness" and find it hard to recognize the intention of the director -which is mainly to focus on the problems of education in present-day China.}, pages = {53--64}, title = {幸せという不幸 : 張藝謀の「幸福の三部作」について}, year = {2006} }
