That is limited, however, to the affirmative expressions, and when looking into The Tale of Genji there are only three examples of Tense-Aspect in the negative situation, i.e. Zariki-form, Zaritsu-form and Zarikeri-form. In this paper it is examined how these forms are properly chosen. As the result, it has become clear that Zariki-form shows a negative situation at a time of the past, Zaritsu shows the ending of a negative situation which has continued from the past and Zarikeri the reconfirmation, with deep emotion, of the past negative situation. Moreover, Zatrikeri can show a negative situation continuing at present, as well as the possibility of a negative situation that will continue from now on.
