| 内容記述 | The first purpose of this study is to develop a Japanese version of the Optimism Scale based on Reevaluation of the Life Orientation Test (LOT-R). The second one is to show that optimism has not only positive effects on individual health, but negative effects. In the study 1, as a result of factor analysis, two factors-"Kirakusa" and "Maemukisa"-were identified. In the study 2, a questionnaire was issued to the 248 male university students to measure Optimism Scale, lifestyle habits and risk-taking behaviors. The results showed that "Kirakusa" factor was related to risk-taking behaviors. In the study 3, the 291 male university students were asked to fill out a questionnaire to measure optimism, cognitive bias to various health problems, and lifestyle habits and subjective well-being (GHQ). It became clear that "Kirakusa" factor was related to greater optimistic bias, high frequency of "too much drinking", lower score of one subscale of GHQ, and a good sleeping habit. "Maemukisa" factor was related to lower score of three subscales of GHQ. Those findings indicate that optimism has positive and negative effects on individual health. | |||||||
